How To Set The IP Address

  • An IP address has to be correctly entered in your desktop computer or notebook, in order to browse the internet. It is a four number that can be between 0 and 255. It contains 4 octets and is separated by dot (.). You can collect your this address number from your LAN service provider. Some time the IP address gets vanished from the computer and hence you will not be able to connect to the internet. In such cases you need to re-setup it.
    Here you will come to know how to set the IP address easily in your computer.
    1] Click the start button in your desktop. Choose control panel button and click it.
    2] Choose "network connections" from the control panel icon and double click it.
    3] In the network connections you will find all the network connections that are installed in your computer.
    4] In this choose the active network connection, i.e., your LAN (local network connection).
    5] Right click mouse in the LAN connection and click the properties icon.
    6] Click properties and select "general" where you will find "this connection uses the following items".
    7] At the bottom of this heading you will find internet protocol (TCP/IP). Select this and click the properties icon.
    8] Fill the details of IP address, subnet mask and default gateway with the 4 octet number that is allotted to you by your service provider.
    9] The DNS server and alternate DNS server need not be filled as it is a default.
    10] Finally click O.K. and complete the IP set up process.
    11] Now connect the internet. You will be able to view the web pages you need.
